New cycling and night safari at Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara cycle & night safari is an exclusive package by Art in Tanzania. It offers a chance to view some of the most breath taking locations in the north of Tanzania. Also, it gives you the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the nocturnal animals of Lake Manyara - rarely seen by daytime safari goers - all topped off with an amazing dinner and a dip in a pool overlooking Lake Manyara.

Lake Manyara has been described by many naturalists as being one of the most beautiful places in Africa. One of the reasons this trip is so special is because the non-lodge-associated night safari is a concept currently being trialed by Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA). This is great opportunity to see the animals of the park in a different way and Art in Tanzania is pleased to be associated with one of the two organizations in the whole country which have been authorized to conduct this type of safari.

Lake Manyara cycle & night safari can come in two packages: either the full package or the half. Full package includes cycling from Serena Manyara Lodge down to Mto Wa Mbu, on the shore of Lake Manyara, swim in Serena Manyara Lodge's infinity pool, three course meal and night game drive. Half package includes swim in Serena Manyara Lodge's infinity pool, three course meal and night game drive.

Full package costs 210 US dollars and half package costs 160 US dollars.

Coloring of Mwandaliwa Orphanage

Paint, check. Brushes, check. Twelve volunteers from Bahari Beach who are willing to paint Mwandaliwa Islamic Orphanage's school with bright colors, check!

"First we decorated the interiors of the school but then we thought that why to stop there and we decided that the school needs a paintjob.", Bethan Frisby and Madeline Wilkinson explained as the volunteers were finishing the paintjob on 19th of May.

Miss Frisby and Miss Wilkinson are volunteering at Mwandaliwa as teachers since the permanent teacher decided to quit there.

"Also, the manager of Mwandaliwa Orphanage is trying to open to school for other children, outside of orphanage", Miss Frisby, originally from Surrey, UK, explains.

"Yeah, I think the manager wants to give something back to the local community since they help the orphanage all the time.", continues Miss Wilkinson from Sydney, Australia.

And the paintjob helps the neighborhood to notice the school that currently has only 13 students from the orphanage.

"We also want to say that we really appriciate all the help we got from other volunteers who do not even work at the orphanage. The painting is succeeding much more quickly this way.", girls thank.

One of the team leaders, Alison Gemgnani from

USA, appriciated greatly volunteers' pro-activivity.

"It is good if you are helping the local communities but it is great if you take the initiative. By that I mean that if you see a need and you are progressive and active enough to do something about as Miss Frisby and Miss Wilkinson were. I think that way you get more out of your volunteering time.", she explains.

Kicking the ball for orphanage

Volunteers and interns at Dar es Salaam volunteer house arranged a football match. There was a minor entrance fee and the profits were donated to Mwandaliwa islamic orphanage.

Football match was the brainchild of Nina Hammarberg and Jessica Häyhä. Both of them have volunteered at the orphanage and they wanted to organize something which would help the children.

Football match was played in a near by field which is located in a village of Kondo. Art in Tanzania has been working together with the Kondo village for years. It is a poor village with mix tribes, people who have moved to town from their home villages. People live in mud houses and many of them do not have power or water. Sports is a big relief for the children and they are on it with full heart.
