Serengeti Great Migration Donation Safari
All safari profits are used for Art in Tanzania community programs in Tanzania. 2015 -2017 our main focus is the Children's Agenda Progam we run in coalition with UNICEF, Save the Children and other NGOs. This includes the Mama Mkubwa Project building up a village community center in Madale village in Dar es Salaam. This program focuses on Children and Women. It also includes neonatal medical and health services.
This seven day adventure safari gets you up close and personal with the millions of animals making the trek of the famous Great Migration. Unrivalled in size, this annual event sees the animals make their way from Tanzania’s Serengeti to Kenya’s Masai Mara National Parks.
Migration safari start dates range from early June to mid September each year. A stop off at Art In Tanzania community programmes in Rubanda village, Fort Ikoma, Serengeti is included. This is a fantastic opportunity to see some of the work we do with local people. You also get the chance to meet tribes people from a few of the different Tanzanian tribes and immerse yourself in their culture.
The purpose of this programme is to see a way of life that is often overlooked in safaris. Most safaris offer excellent game viewing but pay little attention to the cultural gems that lie in various villages along the way. For this reason the accommodation is not based on luxurious lodge stays. We stay with the local people and accommodation is at the Art in Tanzania volunteer’s compounds and lodging dotted along the route of the migration. We truly believe that this will give you a more honest experience of the real Africa, one that you won’t find through a hotel window.
Day 1. Arrival to Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) (-, - , -):

We will stay overnight at Karatu Hiltop Tourist In or similar hotel depending on the season.
Day 3. N´gorongoro – Serengeti (b, l, d):
Getting an early start, we’ll continue to N’gorongoro crater. We do not enter th crater this time but we´ll continue our drive through to the Serengeti with frequent animal encounters along the way. When down at the Rift Valley we pass by Oldupai (Olduvai) Gorge the archeological side the Leakey family has made famous. It is one of the most instrumental furthering understanding of human evoluation.
