Activities and excursions at Zanzibar

Stone Town Walking Tour
Take a walking tour of historic Stone Town with a guide and learn about the history and culture of the town. You can also visit the Slave Market and Slave Chambers, and the House of Wonders. The tour lasts for about 3 hours and can start anytime.
Cost: USD 25
Walk through the forests of Zanzibar with a tour guide and see, smell, and taste spices in their natural settings with an opportunity to purchase spices at the end of the tour. The tour departs at 9am from Stone Town and lasts for 4 hours and is followed by lunch.
Cost: USD 30 per person and includes transportation to and from the tour, lunch, and the Spice Tour.
Take a boat trip to see and swim with wild dolphins off the east coast of Zanzibar! The tour departs from Stone Town at 6am and is back around noon. After lunch, you have the opportunity to visit Jozani Forest on the way back to Stone Town to see red monkeys in their natural habitat.
Cost: USD 50 per person including transportation to and from the tour, lunch, snorkeling equipment, and the dolphin tour. Jozani Forest visit add USD 10 per person. 3 people minimum.
Prison Island & Sandbank
Take a boat trip to visit the historic Prison Island to feed the tortoises in the sanctuary, and get a nice tan on the sandbank you’ll visit! The tour departs in the morning from Stone Town and lasts for about 6-7 hours.
Cost: the round-trip boat transportation to and from the island costs USD 50 covers the island and sanctuary entrance fees and snorkeling equipment. Lunch is included in the tour. 2 people minimum.
Kendwa Beach Escape
Escape from the crowded streets of Stone Town to visit the exquisite northern beach area of Zanzibar. Kendwa is a favorite spot of volunteers, especially if you can make it there for one of Kendwa’s famous full moon parties! With white sand, crystal blue waters, amazing sunsets, and quaint beach bungalows, Kendwa has it all, except ATM machines! So make sure to take enough money with you from cash points in Stone Town so you don’t miss out on cocktails, pizza, burgers, and more!
Cost: USD 35 per person and includes transportation from Kendwa to Mnemba Island and back, barbecue lunch, and snorkeling equipment. Transportation from Stone Town to Kendwa and back is not included.
Jozani Forest Primates - Butterfly Garden
Half day tour starting from Stone town. We visit the Jozani Forest where we see the red monkeys and then move on to the butterfly garden. Easy going half day and specifically the butterflies are wonderful to see. USD 50 per person.
Week-end in Zanzibar from Dar es Salaam
Friday: Ferry to Zanzibar, Stone Town Guided Tour, overnight at the volunteer house in Fuoni.
Saturday: Spice Tour, transport to the beach on the east coast.
Sunday: Free program on the beach on the east coast.
Monday: Transport from east coast to the ferry port in Stone Town, ferry to Dar
Cost: USD 470 per person. Price includes transfer between Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, program above and accommodation with breakfast. Upgrade accommodation available with additional cost.
